The Alberta Student Loan Relief Program
If you have an Alberta Student Loan and have completed your studies, you may be eligible for the Loan Relief Program Completion Payment under the Alberta Student Loan Relief Program. This program is designed to keep the debt level of Alberta students manageable and is not a reward for good grades.
Loan Relief Completion Payment
Eligibility for Loan Relief Completion Payment is determined automatically, normally within 6 months of the date you complete your studies. If you did not indicate on your funding application that you were in your final year of studies, you can complete the Loan Relief Completion application to expedite processing. This application is available on the ALIS website under Forms and Resources.
If you are eligible, a payment will be sent to EDULINX to reduce your Alberta Student Loan debt. If your Completion Payment exceeds your Alberta Student Loan balance, EDULINX will forward you the difference in the form of a cheque.
Eligibility
The calculations which determine Completion Payment eligibility consider the amount of Canada and Alberta Student Loans issued by the Province of Alberta - other debts cannot be considered. These eligibility calculations are student specific.
